It’s been a very busy time recently here at Rep Towers!
As you’ll know from our current projects page, we’re currently working with Spark FM to produce original radio drama and comedy, to be broadcast in their new upcoming Drama and Documentaries slot, at 3.30pm on Sundays.
Well, today we had a rehearsal and readthrough of our first project: ‘Stick To The Act – The Rise and Fall of Douglas and Adams’. It’s a great two-part script, written by Martyn Grahame and adapted from his stage play which ran at the 2011 Edinburgh Fringe to great critical and audience acclaim. This was where I first saw the play, and I liked it so much that when it went to Wimbledon Studio theatre in November of that year I went to see it again, this time reviewing it for RemoteGoat.
I chatted to Martyn and his co-star Sean Hanlon in the bar after the show that night, and wished them all the best for the project in the future. For various reasons which I won’t go into here the play sadly hit a bit of a dead end – however, I’m very pleased that Martyn has revived his radio version of the story and given it to the Rep for our inaugural radio production!
We’ll be in the studio all day tomorrow to record it, and you can listen to it online or on 107FM in Sunderland on Sunday 18th November. It will hopefully be available soon after that to listen to again as a download.
