30 Dec 2012. Even though we’re right in the middle of party season, and even though people seem to be dropping like flies with cold and flu or the dreaded norovirus, Sunderland Rep just keeps on working! Today we went into the studio to record a new comedy script by Paul Dunn, called ‘Hello, I Love You’.
Well – new for radio, that is.
The script has been kicking around in one form or another for ten years. It was originally written by Paul as a short film – designed as a vehicle for himself and a couple of actress friends. It was adapted and performed as a short play at the Cockpit Theatre in London in 1993, and then sat around on Paul’s laptop in various drafts, before he decided to completely redraft the script and adapt it for radio.
We’re pleased to report that the recording has gone very well, and the production should be ready for broadcast some time early in 2013. Regulars Kylie Ann Ford and Paul Dunn took two of the main parts, and we were pleased to welcome on board Rep newbies Rachael Walsh, Laura Pigford and Steven Jobson. We look forward to working with them again in the future.
Keep an eye out for details on the broadcast – and also for the short film version; slated to be shot in the Spring of 2013 with the cast of Rachael Walsh, Kylie Ann Ford and Jim Barton, with Paul Dunn directing.
