The judges have found this shortlist one of the most difficult they’ve had to select, such has been the high standard of entries. The three placed entries are, of course, listed below and published here on our website – but we can’t wait to start work soon on our next print anthology, to make available more of the amazing shortlisted stories too.
But for now, congratulations to the following three winning entries in our January 2022 short story competition:
1st: Abigail Williams – Angela Barr Takes Early Retirement
2nd: Hannah Retallick – When The Tour Guide Still Smiles
3rd: Taria Karillion – The Truth About The Toll Bridge

OUR NEW PROMPT COMPETITION
This month we have launched our brand new Prompt Competition.
As a change to our other comps, which are open to any theme/genre, we decided to run a quarterly comp that gave writers a number of prompts which must be included in their stories.
The next deadline is 10am on 1st April 2022 – so go and have a look at the prompts then GET WRITING! We can’t wait to read your stories.
As always, our other two regular writing competitions are open all year round with quarterly deadlines, so why not have a go and enter your work – we love to read and publish the best, both here on our site and in our annual print anthologies.
