Rehearsed Reading Nights

We are delighted that our popular and hugely successful Rehearsed Reading Nights are returning to Sunderland!
We are currently accepting submissions for our Rehearsed Reading Nights.

This is a chance for writers to have a piece of work rehearsed and performed script-in-hand by our company of professional actors, to then receive feedback and constructive criticism from the audience.

VENUE: The Peacock, Sunderland.
DATES: Tuesday 24 April 2018
Wednesday 27 June 2018 (National Writing Day)

WHAT WE NEED:
Length of piece: Ideally 5-10 minutes. Absolute maximum 15 mins.  (It doesn’t have to be a full piece, it can be an excerpt of something)
Cast size:  Try not to make it too big. Up to 6 characters in a piece is manageable.
Medium:  Any. Theatre scripts, TV/film scripts, radio drama or comedy. Monologues.
This time round we are also keen to hear from writers working on novels who would like to hear an excerpt performed aloud – think of it as hearing your novel as an audiobook!

HOW TO SUBMIT:
Email your piece/script, as a Word doc or PDF attachment, to: CrankedAnvil *at* gmail *dot* com.
Ensure your full contact details are on a covering page of the document.

Previous rehearsed reading nights have led to writers developing their work and going on to have full productions in theatres around the region.  One of our earliest writers is taking his full length play to the Edinburgh International Fringe in August this year.

Our rehearsed reading nights are always great fun, held in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. We usually have a singer/songwriter providing interval entertainment, and of course the bar is open all night for your refreshment and comfort! The audience is usually filled with producers and creative practitioners from around the region, so it’s a great way to network, strike up relationships with fellow artists, and get your work seen and heard.
