Often when we have written a short story, a piece of flash fiction, even a chapter of a novel, we’re advised to read our work aloud.
It can help to gauge the pace and rhythm, or to iron out any clunky bits of narration or false-sounding dialogue. It’s a valuable tool to shape your work into the best that it can possibly be.
But some people can struggle with this. Many people might feel awkward, self-concious, or even just a little bit silly, sitting at their desk or pacing the room and reading their own words out loud.
But don’t worry – Cranked Anvil can help you!
Our Editor In Chief Paul Dunn – as well as being a published and award-winning writer – is also a trained actor of many years standing. He has performed in theatres up and down the country since the mid-90s, as well as recording (and writing) for BBC radio.
In this brand new service offered by Cranked Anvil, simply email us your drafted work, and we will professionally record it and send you the audio file, so you can listen comfortably to your work being read aloud, without being distracted or put off by ‘the sound of your own voice’!
The cost for this service is a very reasonble £10 per 1,000 words.
Just use the box below to select how many thousand words you would like recorded, pay the fee, then email your work to firstname.lastname@example.org
(Feel free to add any notes or comments, or any information you think may be useful for the recording session, in the body of the email.)
