Yes, it’s true.
After a break of almost a year, and after a number of requests and enquiries, WE HAVE ONCE AGAIN OPENED UP our Short Story and Flash Fiction Competitions.
We’ve missed reading and publishing your stories, so after a bit of a break (during which time our EIC Paul got married to his beautiful wife!) we’ve re-opened the competitions and we can’t wait to read your entries again.
You can find out all the info you need here on our website in the usual places.
Please make sure you reacquaint yourself with all the rules, etc, as there are a few changes since last time (including format for entries, and number of entries allowed per quarter) so read all the info carefully before submitting.
The first Flash deadline is next month – the end of November.
The first Short deadline runs through until the end of January 2024.
Whether you’re a Cranked Anvil ‘regular’ who’s entered our competitions before (and we know some of you have since they first started in 2019), or you’re only discovering us for the first time, we can’t wait to read your work.
So what are you waiting for?… GET WRITING!

Because we are almost at the end of October now, we are extending the deadline into the next quarter.
So the deadline for the short story competition is 31st January 2024.
