Our Flash Fiction competition prize money has INCREASED!

Every writer wants to get more money for their writing efforts, right?

Well now you can with us here at Cranked Anvil!

We’ve been running our flash fiction competition for just over a year now, and we’ve seen it grow in popularity since the very beginning. The winning stories have, naturally, been of an incredibly high standard, and our first flash print anthology included not only the two winning entries from each quarter, but also a selection of the best short-listed ones. At just £9.99 +p&p it’s fantastic value, and a brilliant read – grab yourself one here!

Flash is one of the widest and fastest growing diciplines in short story writing. It’s clear to us here at CA HQ that flash is certainly no ‘inferior second cousin’ to the longer forms of short stories.

So we’ve decided to overhaul our flash competition to reflect that. Here’s what we’ve improved, with effect from the quarter beginning 1 March 2022 (deadline May 31st)…

Prizes: Now, instead of two winning stories each quarter, we’ll be placing and publishing the top THREE entries. This increases your chances of being placed and winning a portion of the prize money, as well as of being automatically selected for inclusion in our print anthology.

Prize money: We have increased it to come in line with our other competitions. So the top prize will now be £150, with second and third being £75 and £30 respectively.

But now for the full disclaimer!…

Yes – it does mean that we have also brought the entry fees in line with our other competitions. (Okay, you got us, it’s a fair cop!) But we still think that our fees are some of the lowest around, and fantastic value.

And that’s not all…

To celebrate this increase in our Flash Fiction prize money, we have brought back our brilliant 4 for the price of 3 offer. So, if you pay the £10 entry fee, you can enter 4 stories rather than the usual 3. So, you’re kind of getting a free entry!

All the info is on the Flash page.

So what are you waiting for, writers? Brew yourself a pot of coffee (or whatever your preferred writing beverage may be!), settle yourself down at your desk, and GET WRITING!
