Our first rehearsed reading night of 2014 was an incredible success – as the gallery above shows!
We’d like to say a huge thank you to all the writers and directors – and also to the versatile, hard-working and incredible generous actors: Danielle Miller, Kylie Ann Ford, Stephen Sullivan, Andrew Dawson, Rachael Walsh, Mark Lamb, Jackie Fielding, Viktoria Kay, David Robson, David John Hopper, Andrew Shutt, Frank Ditchburn.
There were four great pieces – as well as some fantastic live acoustic music from local singer Aimie Jeffels, accompanied by the brilliant pianist Jonny Winter.
written and directed by Peter Dawson
The Morning After
written by Rachael Walsh
directed by Gareth Hunter
This play went on to be produced in its entirety in June 2015 at the Pier Pavilion Theatre, South Shields.
Carry On, Alice

directed by Jackie Fielding
The Big Hit
written by Wayne Miller
directed by Kylie Ann Ford
This play went on to be produced in its entirety in September 2014 at the Customs House, South Shields.
After each short piece there was a Q&A with the writer, director and actors, during which the audience offered feedback and constructive critisism.
Previous RRNs have proved incredibly popular with both audiences, participants and critics. “Great entertainment, great performances, great night out,” said one review, with another calling Cranked Anvil a “vibrantly creative and far-reaching company”.
All in all a huge success for Cranked Anvil and all the writers involved. See you at RRN IV!
