Well, now that our weekly comedy radio show, Paul & Nessa’s Happy Hour, is well underway, we’ve been able to concentrate on other projects.
We’re currently finalising plans for our 2016 season, which we’re very excited about! There’s a lot of stuff which, for now, needs to remain a secret, but as soon as things are confirmed we’ll be making our announcements – and we guarantee you’ll be as excited as us!
One thing we can announce now is that next January will see the return of our popular Rehearsed Reading Night. This will be the 4th one we’ve put on, and we’re delighted that once again the Marine in South Shields will be the venue (this time under different hosts!)
You can find all the info on the RRN IV page – which we’ll be adding to as and when we confirm writers, directors and performers. If you’re a writer you’ll also see that we’re now open for submissions for this – follow the links to our submissions page to find out more.

Well, things have finally settled down after the run of I Left My Heart In Roker Park. It was a great run, and we got some cracking reviews and fantastic feedback from the audiences.
But now it’s time to look ahead to 2015, and we’ve already got a couple of exciting projects lined up. We’re planning another Rehearsed Reading Night in February, and the a sketch comedy night in aid of Comic Relief in March.
And w recently talked about those things, and many more, in a new podcast by Martyn Bell, called Creativity Talks. Martyn interviews creative people from different professions. Actors, singers, dancers, comedians, card makers, painters, sketch artists… It’s a great podcast, and well worth a listen. You can also see his facebook page and follow him on twitter.
And, if you’d like to hear it, here’s the interview which director Paul Dunn did with him.

Only two weeks to go until our next event, and today Cranked Anvil has had a very nice profile piece featured in the local paper, the Shields Gazette.
It’s come just at the right time for us. Not only will it help to publicise the rehearsed readings on the 27th of this month, but it will also serve to raise the profile of the company, at a time when we’re making ambitious plans for the rest of the year and beyond.
Happy reading!…

Only 3 weeks to go now, until our third Rehearsed Reading Night takes place, and the plays are starting to come together nicely.
Last night, we had the first ’round-the-table’ readthrough for Peter Dawson’s piece, Alpha Blond(e), with the cast and director subsequently putting it on its feet and exploring the text in more detail.
It’s a very stylised play, which should provoke a lot of thought and feedback when we open with it on the night of the 27th.
The cast are:
Billy STEPHEN SULLIVAN
Holly DANIELLE MILLER
Sally KYLIE ANN FORD
The show is taking place upstairs at The Marine Pub, on Ocean Road in South Shields. Tickets are just £5 on the door.

So, the work has begun in earnest on our next Rehearsed Reading Night, taking place on March 27th in South Shields.
A section of Rachael Walsh’s play, ‘The Morning After’, will be showcased at the evening. Yesterday, the cast and director got together for the first readthrough and really brought the script to life. Directed by Gareth Hunter, this piece will close the first half of our evening. At the readthrough last night the cast described the script as being like the basis of a TV sitcom, so it should send the audience to the bar with smiles on their faces!
At our nights in Sunderland last year, Rachael first tried out her play ‘Crawl’ with her Generic Girl Productions colleague Kylie Ann Ford (who is also involved with us in this show, as both an actor and director). The play went on to tour pub venues in the North East, and we’re hoping for similar success for Rachael on this one.
The cast are:
Ben ANDREW DAWSON
Ashley RACHAEL WALSH
Anna VIKTORIA KAY
Charlie DAVID ROBSON
Greg MARK LAMB
Sue JACKIE FIELDING
The show is taking place upstairs at The Marine Pub, on Ocean Road in South Shields. Tickets are just £5 on the door.

Well, word must be spreading about our Rehearsed Reading Night!
We’ve been tweeting away about it like busy little bees and look – we’ve managed a ‘Top Tweet’!
So that must mean the event will be a good one! Make sure you put the date in your diary – Thursday 27th March, 7pm. We’ll see you there!
